I have suffered, am suffering and probably will suffer some of these "IM syndromes" too. On checking stats, I suffer this too. I used to monitor what back links I got and from whom. It has now grown too big with about 1,200 back links, its too tedious to do it anymore. I do the next best thing - monitor the growing rate.
