Choices and Risks

January 5, 2013 · Print This Article

Choice /CHois/ Noun. An act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.

Every choice comes with a risk attached, wouldn’t you agree?

It seems like a new year propels us to rethink what we’re doing, what choices are available to us, and what risks are involved. Sometimes we choose to step out with baby steps and sometimes we feel forced by circumstances to take make big choices for hopefully big rewards. Other times we don’t make any choice at all, which is really a choice too.

I rarely do this, but I’d like to send you to a post of mine from March 2010 where I share my experience with choosing. The pictures are pretty too. :)

Nice analogy, Peggy. I agree with your “I Can Do It My Way” attitude. I’ve been changing some of the online things I do…dropping several of them, actually. I like my new approach a lot better than what I used to do.

Right now I am working on some decorative Valentine alphabets, writing an ebook for a business partner and planning a launch for my membership site, The Silver Scene, in April. Got a lot of content to gather and “stuff” to create.

Your photos are gorgeous. I miss Denver at times.

    Hi Pat,
Making changes – thoughtful changes – is great! Get rid of what you don’t like so you have more room for what you do like to do – I love it.

It’s funny to note that you are good at both graphics and writing. Usually you see a person lean one way or the other. You like creating, no matter which medium you use. Good luck with the Silver Scene. I’m going to hold you to that launch in April! ;)

WOW what a great analogy! Those mountains are gorgeous! Looking to visit one day.

That 5 year thing really struck me because I have a 5 year thing of comfort going on right now. I hate that. I want to change in many ways but in many ways I feel held back by 3 kids, husband going through school, and bills. :(

I do need to work with someone this year. That is definitely on my todo list. Someone who can help me get where I need to go.

What ever happened to the coaching thing with Alan?

    Come on over, Lisa!

There’s a whole lot of comfort that can go on during 5 years, isn’t there? Usually we don’t even notice we’re stuck and we can’t figure out why we don’t feel as happy about things as we should.

YES, 3 kids and a husband going through school makes it a lot harder, but I know it doesn’t really stop you, Lisa. You get an amazing amount done considering. I think you do pretty well with balancing rather than spending too much time just in one area of your life. My hat’s off to you.

Best of everything for you this year! :)

There’s a saying, You alone responsible in every decision you make or choices you choose.

I don’t know if I follow what everyone else does, but with the internet it is sooo very tempting, especially in the field I am in. I try not to follow, but I guess on some levels I do. I really appreciate your analogies, and because I’m getting older I can’t afford to wait in the wings and “eat my sandwich” for 5 years! I have to get busy and get going. Right now I am just GOING, getting busy and going. Not worrying about if it’s “perfect” which is very tough for a perfectionist, I’m just going and getting it done.
