5 Things I Do Well With Internet Marketing

April 10, 2012 · Print This Article

Working alone at home sometimes can get a little boring so I’ll head off to the coffee shop to do some of my internet marketing “work” now and then. It’s fun to people-watch and I can’t help overhear some snippets of conversation. Why do people talk so loud in coffee shops anyway?

I just overheard one lady talking about Tony Robbins and because of him she journals every night about the 10 things she’s done well that day. What she was saying got me to thinking and so here I am with a blog post about 5 things I do well with internet marketing.

Permit me to share my 5 things here in no particular order in hopes that you’ll tell me your 5 things. We’re all unique and we’ve got strengths that (hopefully) we’ve learned to apply to our online businesses. Are you with me here?

1.  While I’m not as savvy a marketer as some, I’m much better at effective marketing now than I was back when I started, or even a year ago for that matter. I can only get better by learning (like with MyNAMS), observing, and getting coaching.

2.  I recognize and thank people and organizations who have helped me along the way.

3.  I am full of ideas of how to move my internet marketing business forward. I love that I have ideas, I love ideas. Ideas are full of hope, aren’t they?

4.  But I also take action. I’ve done a lot of writing and I’m not afraid to roll my sleeves up and get busy.

5.  I can write pretty well, which translates into writing content for my blog, my info products, and physical books, and content that others can use via Easy Article Starters and AllstarPLR.

What are the 5 things you do well with your online presence? I want to hear about you! :)

You know, this is almost its own blogging meme, as I think it’s an idea I need to take to my blog and write about there, and of course link back here. It’s going to make me think because I’m not sure I do much all that well. Let’s see what I come up with; thanks for the inspiration.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with. I’m sure you will find at least 5 things. :)

This was a good “eye-opening” post for me. Often, I stress about the things I am not good at rather than appreciating what I do well.

I guess when it comes to blogging there are so many “unknown” and there is some aspect or another to learn.. or learn more about!

I can’t concentrate when I’m around people talking Peggy which is why I get plenty done sitting here at home. But I’m also a people watcher. Heck, I’d probably never get any work done if I went someplace else.

Like Mitch, I had to really think about that. I still don’t see my attributes like others do so I’m sure I would get slapped on the hand for my responses. So I’ll try to include how others see me as well. Not sure they all pertain to internet marketing exactly but you can be the judge of that.

    1. I’m really great at building relationships.
    2. I’m really good at creating content that keeps people engaged.
    3. I’m really good at teaching people how to build a successful blog.
    4. I’m really good at motivating others.
    5. I’m really good at driving traffic to my sites.

Okay, you tell me how I did and if you see that as well Peggy. This is a good one and like Mitch, I just may have to include this in a blog post as well. We can come back and compare notes.

    Have a great day Peggy!

Thanks to Mitch, I discovered this blog :)

Very interesting topic today. About five things that do write or I am good at.

    1. I am a good programmer and that often helped in my online endeavors

    2. I am good at analyzing risks and at times taking calculated risks. Most of the time I win.

    3. I never spent a lot of my own money doing my online businesses. I always, spent money only after getting returns from my previous ventures

    4. I do market the right products, never tried to sell bad things that returned good money

    5. I write 100% truth based on my experiences :)

    Hi Shamelle,

It seems like it’s much easier to stress about what we don’t know or don’t do well, doesn’t it?

Every now and then we need to stop and pat ourselves on the back!

You’re right, there will always be something to learn. But I think that’s a good thing because it helps keep our minds young. :)

    Hey Adrienne,

That’s interesting that you commented about how you see yourself vs. how others see you. To me that means you need to give yourself more credit than you do!

Here’s what I think about you and what you put for your 5.

    1. Yes
    2. Yes
    3. Yes
    4. Yes!
    5. Yes

    You’re awesome Adrienne!

I like that you put Resourceful. That’s a great strength to have!

Keep up the good work, Chris:)

About your #4… this shows your integrity and it does my heart good to find other marketers who operate with standards.

“It’s fun to people-watch and I can’t help overhear some snippets of conversation. Why do people talk so loud in coffee shops anyway?” – I agree with you! It’s one my favorite pastimes, LOL. Sometimes it’s hard not to laugh with them when you hear their jokes or stories. And it’s funny too how you can relate to their conversations and respond only in your mind.

    Hi mdenise,

“Sometimes it’s hard not to laugh with them when you hear their jokes or stories.” – agreed!

Sometimes I have to bite my tongue because I want to jump into the conversation. In fact, one time I did jump in because they were talking about Facebook timeline changes and I had a question. So we got to talking and exchanged business cards.

I really loved what you did here! I love journaling.. It’s like a very productive and insightful introspection which can fill you with insights that NO ONE else but YOU can tell yourself.

(I’m going to think about the 5 points later on ’cause it’s way past my bedtime and my head isn’t working right now, haha. But just wanted to say thanks a ton for this inspiring idea. I love the positivity on this blog post that you and other commentors like Adrienne, Mitch, Chris Deals are sharing! YOU GO GUYS! :D )

    1) When I really want something done, it gets done.
    2) I’m more than willing to shoot an email out to my list, creating a reason when one doesn’t exist.
    3) More ideas than time available.
    4) I’m a great starter – poor finisher.
    5) I can write decently. Not afraid to put myself out there to see if it works.

I suppose I’m like a lot of people. Lack of focus, still kinda prone to shiny objects (not as bad as before, now just look for immediate gain products and such.) I just completed my biggest project to date, and am working on one to dwarf it.

Of course, now I have the pre-game jitters. Kinda why I popped over to see if you posted something new. Back to the outline with me.

Super topic and a very good post. I am just an editor/writer and do not really own a blog nor do I understand much of Internet marketing. However, the ‘five good things’ post is definitely of interest in any walk of life, I must say.

Also enjoyed the sharing of other commenters here :)

I agree that it’s very insightful and productive. I’d love to hear your 5 points. It’s obvious to me that you can write well and with lots of personality so I hope that’s one. :)

    Hi Doug,
Love #1! As far as #2, I like how you add personality to your emails. You write them like you’re talking to a friend.

Good luck with your current new project and the one after that!

    Hi Jenny,

Everyone should be able to find 5 good things about themselves with whatever business they’re in. Would you go so far as to say if they can’t find 5 things they do well in their business, then maybe they shouldn’t be in that business?

    Little late on this one!

But wow this post realllly has me thinking! It’s so easy to come up with 5 things I suck at LOL…can we do that instead?? LOL!

But seriously, after doing some thinking I’d have to say:

    1. I have lots of ideas and I take action on a lot of them. (is that two or one?)
    2. I’m not afraid to put myself out there.
    3. I’m a quick learner.
    4. I’m great at outsourcing projects when I need to.
    5. I’m determined to build a business that is perfect for me!!

Whew! That wasn’t so bad afterall! Thanks Peggy!

I agree on that part about thanking the people who have helped you. It solidifies your relationship with them, plus it’s a big help for your reputation. You build relationships to build your reputation. The reason: once you’ve gotten to know them, they’ll be helping you out with getting your name out there as well.

    Hi Lisa,

I would agree with your self-assessment of your 5, although I don’t think it should have been hard for you to come up with those – there are a lot of things you do well.

I’m loving your #2 – Not afraid to put yourself out there. That’s a great one and you should be really proud of that. :) How else are you going to know if something works, right?

    Thanks for sharing,

    Hello Gerald,

I think thanking people who have helped you is so important. You can’t always return the favor from the position you’re currently in, but you can give them public recognition and sing their praises to anyone who will listen.

    Hey Steve,

Those are certainly 5 of the many things you do well! I’ve witnessed you in action on all of them from reading your blog for the past few years. :)

  28. Blake on April 27th, 2012 1:50 am

For me, saying thank you to all those people who helped you along the way is the best thing you did. Showing some gratitude to all of them is a nice indication of staying grounded and more blessings to come.

Wow, Peggy, great post! I was just thinking it could develop into one of those ‘pass it on’ type posts, then you asked us to name our 5 ‘things we do well’! And aren’t there some great responses here. It’s good to see that people are able to identify their strengths, and are happy to divulge them. So my five strengths I guess would be:

    1. I write well (grammar, spelling and punctuation are important to me)
    2. I have an ability to pass on knowledge (basically teach others)
    3. I am incredibly supportive of others (and the bonus for me is they reciprocate!)
    4. I am able to ‘think outside the box’ (ideas develop very quickly and morph into something unreal often)
    5. I am willing to learn (I’m a risk taker and will have a go at anything!)

    Enjoy the journey.

I missed this post and I love what you’re doing here. I had stopped writing down my wins a while back when I let work get in the way so this is a great reminder to get back to it!

    My 5 things:

    1. I’m stubborn. This is a blessing AND a curse sometimes. :)
    2. I know how to find answers & love doing the research.
    3. I’m willing to do what most people aren’t to become successful (missing the BBQs and such…even back before my major hours at work).
    4. I’m intuitive so I pick up fairly quick on who to trust (although harder online than off, it’s still a plus). :)
    5. I’m an idea person who can create some really cool projects (it’s the detail side that could use some work!)

Still working on time to do all that I want, but love catching your posts! Speaking of, am I missing emails that let me know when you have a new post or do you not send those out?

You are a winner! I loved your 5 things. Whatever and whenever you write, your personality shines through. So keep on truckin’! (Sorry, couldn’t resist).

As to your question about missing my emails where I’m supposed to notify you of my latest blog post… I admit I haven’t been consistent in sending them lately. But I promise to do better. :)
