Confession: I’m An Internet Marketing Business Peeping Tom
July 25, 2011
I’m a peeping tom when it comes to Internet marketing businesses. I like to know what people are doing because it inspires me. So… if I tell you about the projects I’m currently working on, will you tell me about yours?
1. Since writing is my thing, I thought it was high time I started publishing some of my ebooks on Kindle. I’m in the research phase right now and just listened to a webinar that revealed the easier bits. As is most often the case, do’s and dont’s and marketing strategies are involved. If you know of any excellent Kindle publishing resources I should learn from and add to my library, please let me know.
I will update you when my first Kindle ebook is live. I think a good place to start is with the first ebook I did at Cookin’ Kids.
2. I’m putting together the next issue of Professional PLR Provider newsletter. I like to have it ready for my subscribers on the 7th or 8th of the month. I absolutely love doing this newsletter – it’s on something that I’m passionate about and it challenges me to give my best info and hold nothing back.
3. I’ve been working on and off on a blog I’m building to flip. This is based on an idea I got from Tony Shepherd’s Affordable Mentoring Newsletter and to my knowledge, this particular blog topic hasn’t been flipped before. I could be wrong about that though. I think this blog will make someone very happy. The content is ready to go, I’m just playing around with the theme now. I purchased Elegant Themes and I just can’t decide which WP theme to use!
4. I’m going to be working on a webinar series with the smart and funny Joe Marsh. I’ve never done a webinar series before, but luckily Joe is an expert at it.
5. Thankfully, this one is more immediate – I’m putting the finishing touches on another PLR article pack on babies for MyNichePLR. This will be the second pack in the series. Eventually Pat Graham and I will have 9 Baby packs. No matter what else I’m working on, I’m always writing PLR to add to my stores for people who need content.
That’s what’s on my full plate. It always helps to have a day away doing something fun to help you put it all in perspective. The pictures are from Saturday’s bike ride and sightseeing in Vail, Colorado. Sorry they’re a little blurry; my cell phone camera isn’t the best. Or maybe it’s me?
Now it’s your turn!
What are you working on? Come on…. spill the beans!
How To Help Your Affiliates Sell More
July 15, 2011
This is a guest post by Debra Conrad. I've been begging her to write this because I was so impressed with how well she did in Tiff Dow's affiliate contest. Debra is also a top affiliate in my affiliate contest that's going on right now. There are lessons to be learned here if you're an affiliate marketer.
How I Made Lightning Strike Twice and Racked In About $1000 Each Strike
By Debra Conrad
I have a disclaimer to make right up front. I'm no whiz at marketing and this lighting strike didn't happen because I did anything original or unethical.
I've been doing the "make money online" thing for over 7 years… I have dipped my toes into just about every type of online "make money" idea there is. Some worked really well ~ some I've dropped like a hot potato.
One of the most powerful things I've learned over the years is "Your Affiliates need to learn how to educate their subscribers".
I'm sharing these ideas from an "Affiliate" point of view. I also have my own PLR "store" and I know how tough it is to get an Affiliate to promote your "stuff".
That's not what I'm talking about today… that is an entirely different subject.
What I do want to share is how I "sold" aprox $2000 of $5 PLR in just a few days. And I did the same thing less than 2 months later.
This means that I made $1000 (and the PLR supplier also made $1000) "Twice" because I put out a tiny bit of effort. In fact – the second time around was super easy and took less than 10 minutes!
Tiffany Dow – PLR MiniMart – offered a fantastic special. Everything in her store was $5! Even the big PLR reports, bundles and packages were reduced to $5. Some of her bigger price points run up to $150… so this really did feel like a super special deal.
Tiff had previously offered these specials – but she didn't have an affiliate program in place. Now she does! I jumped on board right away.
Step 1 - I didn't "just" send out an email. This would be a mistake in my book. I wanted to share why I loved the offer ~ why I love the PLR provider ~ and the best way to take advantage of the offer.
I could have posted this on my "main" blogs (debraconrad.com or publicdomaintreasurehunter.com – but I wanted to drive a bit of traffic to my PLR store. It really doesn't matter where you share the info – as long as your readers will find it a valuable offer and not just another promotion.
I titled the post a bit "generic" ~ Don't date the post title with something like "July 4th blowout" or "June Special".

The first line (in red) gives the dates of the sale!
Read the entire article and you will see what I mean about sharing "what I've purchased" and/or "what there is on the site that's new" etc.
I also gave a step by step "how-to" purchase the PLR with the special pricing. It's a bit cumbersome so I wanted to make sure the reader had a good grasp of the process.
I did see that another marketer made a video of this process. Personally – I'd rather "read" the instructions and I know my subscribers would as well.
Step 2 – Send an email to your list
This is the first email I sent out:
{Urgentish} My Favorite Ghostwriter Is Practically Giving Away Content
Hi {!firstname_fix}
Have you ever heard of Tiffany Dow? She's the woman who was the ghostwriter to top marketers like John Reese, Ewen Chia, Rich Schefren and Travis Sago (to name a few). Now that she stopped ghostwriting, she's selling top notch content as private label rights – and the special she's running right now is unbelievable but it ONLY lasts a few more hours!
PLR, in case you don't know, is content you can buy and alter the way you want to, putting your own name on it to sell or use on your sites… Just like public domain content!
Tiffany's PLR store, the PLR Mini Mart, is having an "Everything's $5" sale that ends Thursday! Check it here:
[my link]
What does this mean for you? It means you can get:
Full eBooks
Reports
Email Autoresponders
Article Packs
Blog Posts and…
Affiliate Reviews
It doesn't matter HOW big the pack is (even if it's one of her plr packs that normally sells for $116) – YOU get it for just 5 bucks till the sale ends. If you see TWO packs regularly priced at $5, then you get BOTH for just five dollars total.
Content is more important now than ever before. Forget about buying PLR from those spin shops where quality is low. Invest in PLR as a way to:
- Have an instant product ready to sell (or a Bonus to give with your product)
- Have a readymade blog post or web page to feed Google some good content
- As a springboard for writing your own content (lots of people buy PLR as research and then rewrite it)
- Build a list with an amazing opt in report (or make sales turning it into a viral entity)
The possibilities are endless and using the same writer all the top marketers have used for years will help you create a good reputation as a quality content producer! Check it out here:

She has a ton of niche topics to choose from… and they will combine with public domain content beautifully.
For example:
Dog PLR – Agility pack
Dog PLR – Health pack
Dog PLR – Ownership Pack
Dog PLR – Potty Training pack
Dog PLR – Grooming pack
Don't set it aside to do later – before you know it, time will get away and the sale will be over!
Yep – I know this is a long email… but it worked!!!
Step 3 – Send out another email
{Positively Urgent} Tiff Is Closing This
Hi {!firstname_fix}
Did you get my email about Tiffany Dow yesterday? The gal who use to ghostwrite for top marketers like John Reese, Ewen Chia,
Rich Schefren and Travis Sago (to name a few).

Movie Reviews PLR
Don't wait on this – thinking you will check it out later…
before you know it the sale will be over!

Step 4 – Send a note in an email
I didn't send another "promotional" email on the last day. I added this "note" to the end of an email with meaty content:
I just talked to a friend and she didn't realize those eBooks and Special Reports were on sale for $5 as well…
[my link]
Step 5 – Collect your affiliate earnings
Make Lighting Strike Twice
Tiff offered the same sale about 7 weeks later – I didn't think that my subscribers would have much interest so soon… but I promoted again anyway.
Step 1 – Re-do the same blog post
I spent a few minutes adding the new red (first line) about the expiration date.
I changed up a few things and talked about some of her newer PLR that had been added since the last sale.
Step 2 - Send an email (almost a copy of the previous emails)
Hi {!firstname_fix}
Tiff is doing here special again… if you missed it in May this is your chance to stock up!

I added this note to the bottom of a "meaty" email. (meaty means full of how-to or tips on your special niche topic)
Don't wait on this – thinking you will check it out later… before you know it the sale will be over!
Step 4 - Collect affiliate commissions! You could have knocked me over with a feather… this second sale pulled in almost the same $ amount as the first.
Why? I think my subscribers were really happy with the PLR they purchased the first time around and were ready to stock up!
PLR Is Often Misunderstood
Remember – that I'm sharing these tips from an Affiliate point of view. You need to keep all this in mind so that you will know "which affiliates to approach". Don't approach an affiliate that doesn't "get it".
PLR is often misunderstood and your readers may not know what a useful tool it is. My specialty is teaching how to profit with public domain content. I've talked and shared tips/ideas for combining PLR with public domain content – which is a powerful one-two punch for original content creation.
Talk to them about rewriting it so it's original. I've talked on and on about rewriting PLR/Public Domain until I'm sure my subscribers are probably sick to death of it and get the point already. However, I'm never going to stop beating this drum!
What unique way have you used PLR?
Show them what cool things you have done with PLR. I don't just talk about using PLR – I show my readers how I've used PLR in a variety of ways. This get's the "thinking juices" flowing ~ and if they want to use your ideas for themselves… the have to purchase PLR.
Give niche ideas and then talk about all the ways they can market to that nice including PLR
Make sure you are offering a "Once In a Lifetime Deal"! It doesn't really have to be once in a lifetime… lol. Tiffany Dow offers her special several times a year. It just "seems" like "to good a deal to pass up".
Give your affiliates as much help as you can. Tiff wrote most of the eMail content for her affiliates to use. This is a huge help – and makes rewriting for promotion so easy!
She didn't have a "banner" ad so I just copied hers from her "Tiffany Dow Blog" – quick and simple.
She also didn't have "text links" that I could find… so I had to make my own. This isn't a huge big deal – but it is nice to make things as easy as possible for your affiliates.
Teach your affiliates how to market your content AND how to get the Deal.
Just to recap:
- Blog posts about PLR before you ever start promoting PLR.
- Video – If you need to show your subscribers how to use PLR.
- Screen Captures – same idea.
- Email and email reminders for the promotion.
- Show them what PLR you have already purchased from the PLR provider.
- Show them niches that the PLR provider has covered that you think are best.
- Tell them why you are among the best PLR writers.
- Give them a sample of your work to give away.
- Show them how they can use a blog post over again.
- Show how the PLR provider can make affiliate sales - as well as sell their own PLR during the sale.

Why 50 Year Olds Don’t Play Football
July 8, 2011
So several weeks ago I was rushing to cross a busy Denver downtown street because the crosswalk sign was flashing.
"Come on!" I says to the people with me, "We can make it!"
Next thing I know I catch a toe and go sprawling, rather ungracefully I'm sure, face first on the pavement. There were 2 things going through my mind – "HOW EMBARRASSING" (of course that was first) and "I'm going to get run over."
As I scrambled up, I realized I was bleeding and it hurt like a son of a gun. And yes, everyone saw me although no one ran me over. Whew.
Damage assessment - skinned elbow, skinned palm, hurt and skinned knee (through pants even), broken blood vessel on other palm with possible thumb injury. Luckily my face was spared.
I'm not proud to admit it, but I was a whiner for the rest of the week. It hurt!
The next day I was watching my son at his (American) football practice. I thought about all the hits those boys take and they just get up and keep going. Hit after hit. Then I thought about what shape I'd be in if I was playing with those high school-aged kids. Shudder.
There is a reason why 50 year olds don't play football. We could get seriously and permanently injured and maimed. And that's just on the first play of practice.
The football field is certainly a place where the older generation has no business being. Yes, you can use your age as an excuse here.
BUT… you can't use your age as an excuse when it comes to Internet marketing. I've seen seniors and baby boomers jump on line and learn how to successful sell products with the best of them. They're affiliate marketers, teachers, product creators, experts, and online entrepreneurs.
So when I hear some say, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." or "I'm too old to learn the techy part of setting up a blog." it makes me unhappy. Those are just a lame excuses!
Get out there and learn what you need to know, at your own pace. Don't feel you have to know everything at once. Learn part, hire someone to do another part, ask for help, find a mentor, get busy. Carve out your spot, you can do it! Age doesn't matter on the Internet.
Here's where I would like to list a bunch of my favorite resources but I'm heading out of town tomorrow morning and I need to go pack.
I'll just leave you with 2 of my favorite paid mentoring newsletters I subscribe to: Nicole Dean's IncomeCPR and Tony Shepherd's AffordableMentoring. I can honestly say so far I've made 4 figures from ideas I've gotten from these 2 marketers' newsletters. Case study results to come!
