Broadcast Good or Bad?
December 26, 2007
Christmas was great. We woke up to several inches of fresh snow and it snowed all day. I think we ended up with about 9 inches. Traveling over the pass to the relatives didn’t seem like a smart idea, so we just stayed home. Besides watching the kids open presents, I think the highlight of this Christmas was when we grabbed our sleds and walked over to the park at 7:30 pm for some goofy sledding antics and lots of laughs. Hot chocolate with mini-marshmallows followed.
Back to work today!
My list is growing, slowly but steadily. It’s still very small but I know this thing will “snowball” (in keeping with the snow theme, see above.) Anyway, I’ve been concentrating on sending out helpful information to my lists rather than promotions, but last week I sent out my first broadcast. It was for Michael Rasmussen’s Email Promos Exposed. I know I got a lot out of the free videos when I listened to them and I thought others might like to hear them. Of course he has an OTO, which is optional.
I sent off my broadcast and then headed over to my in-bin to follow up on some email. One piece of mail I had received was a broadcast for the very same product from a well-known marketer. His email was stunning, mine was not. His was smooth and lead me right along and made me excited to click on the link he provided. I was feeling very inadequate at that moment. I looked back over my own broadcast -definitely not smooth, but it was me.
2 days later I checked my stats on that broadcast and here were the results:
63.3% opened my email
43.3% clicked through to the link for Email Promos Exposed.
Not bad, huh?
I know I’ve got a way to go with making my emails more persuasive, but I’m not going to be afraid to use my own voice.
PDFs, Templates, and Videos…Oh My!

I’m trying to keep myself from buying anything new these days, with Christmas around the corner and the thought of the hefty credit card bill that will come in January (groan), but I couldn’t resist when I saw that John Thornhill had a new product.
I’ve been kind of floundering here, wondering which one internet marketing direction I should head, rather than four different directions at once. Sound familiar?
So along comes John’s new product about how to get going with resale products – he calls it a blueprint. Perfect timing, I says to myself.
I’m guessing you have lots of PLR ebooks sitting on your hard drive collecting dust too? Well, I’ve read through John’s material and now I know what to do.
He maps it all out in a 7 day plan. 7 days til resale rights success. He’s got the PDF instructions and videos to show me just how to do it. He’s thrown in some cool templates, which I don’t know how to use yet, but I’ll just watch the video about it and I’ll be shown. Yes!
He covers everything from setting up the website, to just exactly how your autoresponder should be laid out and how to make different Paypal buttons.
I have to admit that there was something John said in Day 6 that got that little lightbulb above my head flipped on. Maybe I’m just dense, but I “get it” now!
Now, I already know some of the beginning stuff, so I was able to get to day 3 quickly. Honesty, I don’t think I can get it all done in 7 days since I can’t spend a lot of time on it every day, but that’s okay. At least I have a map to follow. Even though I tend to be a bit of a rebel, sometimes I want to have someone tell me to “do this” and “do that” (Please don’t tell my husband I said that or he’s likely to use it to his advantage.)
Anyway, John Thornhill’s plan is my plan. You can take a look here, or just watch this space for updates on how it’s going. Tomorrow I begin Day 3!
It’s Done! It’s Finally Done!

I have finally launched the much anticipated (ha!) Look After Your List free report. It’s been a great learning experience putting the thing together, but the biggest benefit for me has been in learning what these 11 (yes 11) successful internet marketers have to say about how to maintain a list, build list loyalty, and turn happy list members into customers.
I am pleased with how the report turned out and I think you’ll benefit from reading it, especially if you are a new marketer. Thanks to all these people who answered my questions and contributed:
Tiffany Dow
Erik Stafford
Nicole Dean
Michael Ambrosio
Andrew and Daryl Grant
Gene Sower
Matt Bacak
Tom Kulzer
John Thornhill
Heidi Richards
Tim Brocklehurst
Please let me know what you think! Look After Your List
Oh…. and send it out to everyone you know!
Here’s an unsolicited testimonial just in:
“Thank you so much for your new e-bookThis is exactly what I needed and when I needed it. As a communication expert, I am often asked about the best ways to communicate with clients. In fact I was just having a dicussion on a private forum I belong to about this very issue of taking care of a list and what that means. Your e-book has fabulous insights on almost every page. It’s excellent to see so many “heavy hitters” and their detailed responses to how to take care of a list.
I am so grateful you put this together and offered it to us!
To everyone else– click Peg’s link and get her e-book. It’s fabulous for anyone who has a list of any size! Felicia J. Slattery, M.A., M.Ad.Ed.
